Parents Can Equip Their Children To Build Their Future Themselves

by | Jun 16, 2024 | Stories With Himani

I recently came across something that reminded me of the incredible influence parents have on their kids. It was something that made me pause and reflect on the subtle yet significant ways….. parents or elders at home shape up their children’s lives…

So, one morning last week, I was reading a news story on internet that just blew me away. This 16-year-old girl named Kaamya Karthikeyan, from Mumbai scaled Mount Everest! Youngest Indian mountaineer to ever do it from the Nepal side. Wow! What a great news! She is just 16!.. And guess what makes it even cooler? She didn’t do it alone.

Kaamya climbed Everest with her dad by her side! They trained together, they embarked on this incredible expedition together, and they reached the summit together. Isn’t this wonderful?

Now, later that same day, in the evening I was out for a walk and I saw something completely different. There was a mom with her daughter, maybe 10 years old, and the mom was smoking a cigarette in front of her. And it just hit me – the choices parents make, big or small, can have a huge impact on their kids.

Kaamya’s story is a fantastic example of how parents can support and encourage their kids to achieve incredible things. Her dad clearly believed in her dream and helped her train and prepare for this massive climb. On the other hand, Smoking around kids might be a bad influence on them.

Now it’s not about judging parents. The point which I want to focus is about acknowledging the immense power the parents hold in shaping their children’s lives. The things we do and the choices we make, have a lasting impact on young peoples lives around us.

Parents Can’t Always Build The Future For Their Children But Can Equip Them To Build It For Themselves

Are we inspiring them to shoot for the stars, or are we, maybe unintentionally, leading them down a different path? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments!

Until next time, lets be the best version of ourselves. May God bless us all with lots of love and protection!
